Fields of Earth Poetry Competition 2011

The competition is open to all poets who wish to enter. Poets who have won a first, second or third place award in a particular category
in the preceding competition will not be allowed to enter a poem in that category for a period of one cycle of competition. There is a reading fee of $2.00 per poem

There are 5 categories for adult poets: (1) Religious/Inspirational (2)Love (3) Nature (4)Open (5)Rhyming, metered verse

Poems that are entered in these categories may not be more than 32 lines long.

Qualifying poets may enter up to two poems in each category. No poem may be submitted in two different categories.

Poems must be accompanied by a cover letter containing the title of the poem and category entered, poetÕs name, address, and telephone number and e-mail address if available.
Multiple entries can be listed on one cover letter. There should be no writing on poem other than the title of the poem and the poem itself.

Submission of entries will be from February 10 until March 22, 2010.

Submissions become the property of the WritersÕ Ink Guild. Copyright remains with each individual poet, but the WritersÕ Ink Guild shall have a one-time right to publish for a period not to exceed six months after the announcement of prize winners. If there are sufficient entries to permit the publishing of an anthology of winning poems the plan to publish will be announced at the award ceremony.

Awards will be presented on May 15, 2011 at the Fayetteville/Cumberland County Arts Council Building, 301 Hay St, Fayetteville, NC. Time tentatively set for 2 PM.

Cash awards of $15 for 1st, $10 for 2nd, and $5 for 3rd place poems in each of the adult categories .
