2018 Adult Contests Are Now Open!
The submission period for adult contests sponsored by the NC Poetry Society opened on November 1.  We offer contests in eleven different categories for all tastes and talents, so sharpen up your pencil and send us your best work.  To read the guidelines and for further information about requirements, click here.  The final deadline for submission is January 19, 2018.

2018 Student Poetry Contests
Our annual NC Poetry Society contests for students from 3rd grade to undergraduate is now open.  Submissions of individual poems in different categories are strongly encouraged.  For guidelines and to obtain the required entry form, click here.  The final deadline for submissions will be February 1, 2018.

Unique Opportunities
To honor the memory of its founder, poet Jerry Cuthrell, the Pamlico Writers’ Group has announced its first-ever search for a Heart of the Pamlico Poet Laureate to represent eastern North Carolina.  The successful candidate will be an accomplished poet who has resided in eastern North Carolina for a minimum of one year.  Applications must be received by December 15, 2017.  For further information, click here.

Poetry in Plain Sight, a program co-sponsored by Winston-Salem Writers and the North Carolina Poetry Society, welcomes submissions until December 31.  Four poems are selected for each month for public display during 2018-2019, beginning in March.  Featured poets will receive a poster copy of their poem and be invited to read at Poetry in Plain Sight, Live!
